**Background** In July 2007, Gary Felton (45), Antonio Popic (40 years), Chantelle McDougall (27) and her 6 year old daughter Leela vacated their premises in Nannup, Western Australia. They were last seen on July 13, 2007 when they sold their car to a car dealership. The $4,000 that was transferred to Chantelle's account was never touched. It is believed that Felton had met McDougall in 1997 at an ashram in Melbourne, Australia, and then moved to Western Australia where they lived a communal lifestyle with Felton's partner at the time. Felton returned to the UK with his former partner and traveled between the UK, India and Australia using a passport in the name of Simon Anthony Kadwell. McDougall met with Felton in the UK and briefly resided together in Denmark before returning to Australia in 2003. By this time Felton's relationship with his former partner had ceased, with her telling investigators that Felton had a narcissistic personality. Antonio Popic first met Felton and McDougall in Denmark and travelled with them to Australia where he resided in a caravan next to their house. **Background to Gary Felton** In 1986 Gary worked for a software company in England where he met Simon Anthony Kadwill and stole his birth certificate and obtained a United Kingdom passport in that name to travel to Australia. Gary assumed the name of Simon Kadwill and travelled extensively before settling in Australia in 1997. It is possible that if Gary his alive, he has assumed another new identity. Gary published several books devoted to his spiritual beliefs, notably "The New Call", "Servers of the Divine Plan" and "Rare Insights". He created a website called "The Truth Fellowship" as well as several online chat forums where he discussed his beliefs and encouraged others from around the world to follow him. He had also mentioned having a suicide pact with his family. He wrote under the name "Si" to around 40 followers prophesying a judgment day, claiming that Earth was approaching the end of a 75,000 year cycle and only those who learned "the lessons of the physical plane" could be saved. On May 5, 2007, police (acting on a tip-off) stopped Felton in a routine traffic stop and took the opportunity to question him about his identity. At a Coronial Inquest into the disappearances, it was noted as a possible catalyst for the disappearance **Disappearance** All indications were that they were going overseas, possibly to Brazil (via New Zealand), however there are no records of them leaving Australia. On July 19 their landlord entered their residence and found a note that read "Gone to Brazil", and Gary had told several people online that the family was moving to join a religious cult in Rio Branco, Brazil, on the edge of the Amazon. Chantelle McDougall's mother also claimed that a passport had shown up at the house for her granddaughter, Leela. As mentioned earlier, they were last seen on July 13, 2007 (some reports have mentioned July 14) when they sold their car to a dealer. In 2013, police claimed they had found evidence of a person using Antonio Popic's identification staying at the Underground Backpackers in Northbridge on July 15, 2007 (only a day after their last sighting). Police claim the man had travelled from Bunbury to Perth on train earlier in the day before catching a train to Kalgoorlie the following day. There is nothing to suggest that Chantelle, Leela or Gary had been on the train at this time however, although, it is also speculated that Felton had travelled by train under the alias of "Jay Roberts". **Possible Leela sighting in Rome, Italy** \[There is a link at the bottom of the page which contains photographs of Leela before she went missing and photos of the possible sighting. They are really very similar\] One theory proposed is that a homeless, English-speaking teen found in Rome right be Leela McDougall, a decade older. The woman was spotted several times by locals and tourists sleeping on the streets of Rome (centre Rome, specifically). The woman had been approached several times and responds in English but has never been definitively identified or located. **Plane crash theory** There is a possibility that the family were killed in a Brazilian air crash a few days after leaving Australia. On July 17, 2007 Tam Airlines domestic flight 3054 overshot the Sao Paulo Airport runaway, killing all 181 passengers. While the names of the missing Australians did not appear in Tam Airlines' records, investigators have looked at the possibility that Gary had forged everyone's documents. The fact that almost a third of the recovered bodies were burned beyond identification has added weight to the theory. **Questions** Does anybody have any further information to add on the so-called "The Truth Fellowship" cult or website? I've had some difficulty tracking down any forum discussions which might reveal further clues or leads to go on. Gary Felton in general doesn't seem to have to much information relating to him online but it would be fascinating to track down where his travels had taken him between the time of stealing the birth certificate in the UK and finally settling in Australia.
